Ten-day training on effective treatment of prisoners with mental disorders has been started for doctors and nurses of the Medical Unit of the Department of Prisons under the Ministry of Corrections and Legal Assistance. 26 doctors and nursed participate in the training which is conducted at the initiative of the Foundation “Global Initiative in Psychiatry – Tbilisi”. Upon its completion, the trainees will receive certificates.

During the transportation of the prisoners to the Prison №2 in Kutaisi, one of the prisoners damaged himself in order to be transferred to the hospital. This incident was recorded by the internal security video cameras, in full compliance of law. At present investigation of the case in under process in which the Investigation Department of the Ministry of Corrections and Legal Assistance is involved.

Probationers in Zugdidi cleaned up surroundings of the Church named after the Death of the Most Holly Mother of God in Tsaishi. Cleaning up action of Zugdidi- Tsaishi Eparchies was consecrated by Father Ambrosi and organized by Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti Probation Bureau. Probationers cleaned the territory of Church Complex, built in VI-VII centuries from the prickly hedges and stones and road metals.

The problem of overloading in Rustavi № 2 Penitentiary Establishment is finally fixed and the standard custodial regime is already functioning. The Ministry of Corrections and Legal Assistance has transferred the part of prisoners from Rustavi № 2 Penitentiary Establishment to the newly refurbished Prison № 2 in Kutaisi.

The new dentist cabinet has been opened in the medical unit of Geguti #8 General and Strict Regime Penitentiary Establishment. The opening was attended by the Minister of Corrections and Legal Assistance Dimitri Shashkini and the Deputy Ministers Akaki Seperteladze and Levan Zarandia.
