Tbilisi Probation Bureau on “One Window “Principle

First stage of Probation Service reformation aiming at provision the modern infrastructure to the service and its offices was completed successfully. From today, Tbilisi Probation Bureau will work on”one window” principle. From now on for registration, probationers will be served simultaneously by up to 10 operators with thumb scan. This new system will enable officers to work individually with probationers as social workers.

Probationers visited Vani museum

Cultural complex event for probationers was held today in Vani organized by Imereti Probation Bureau. Parolees from Vani and Samtredia visited Vani Archeological Museum, after the excursion they played football. Director of the Museum was the guide himself. He told the history of the interesting exponents and archeological discoveries to the group of probationers consisting from 25 persons.

Meeting with representatives of the US Federal Bureau of Prisons

On October 9 the Minister of Corrections and Legal Assistance Dimitri Shashkini hold a meeting with the Deputy Directors of US Federal Bureau of Prisons William Dalius, Vanessa Adams and Charles Samuels. The Minister has presented to his colleagues the ongoing reforms within the Georgian Penitentiary System.

Meeting at the US Department of Public Safety and Correctional Service

On October 9 the Head of National Service of Non-custodial Punishment and Probation, Teimuraz Iobidze met the Director of US Department of Public Safety and Correctional Service, Patrick McGee. It was an introductory meeting, at which the parties had the possibility to share the experience and, hereby, the frame for future cooperation has been featured.

Dimitri Shashkini met with Miriam Lanskey

On October 9 the Minister of Corrections and Legal Assistance Dimitri Shashkini met the representative of the National Endowment for Democracy Miriam Lanskey. During the meeting the issues of Georgia’s democratic development, as well as the ongoing and future reforms of the MCLA were discussed.

Convicts were presented with special material needed for iconography

Deputy Ministers of Corrections and Legal Assistance – Koka Seperteladze and Levan Zarandia visited # 10 Strict and Common Regime Establishment in Avchala and presented convicts with sports inventory – balls, tables for ping-pong and necessary things for the Iconography. Provision of Penitentiary Establishments with sports inventory will help the implementation of healthy life stile in juveniles.
