Minister presented a concluding report to the press. Ms. Kalmakhelidze emphasized such priority areas as prison healthcare, long-term visits and meetings by video-conferencing, construction of infrastructure for vocational education, development of prison infrastructure, community service and etc. Minister noted that this year:
· Primary healthcare is being piloted;
· The building for tubercular inmates is being constructed;
· Medical personnel from the National TB Center is appointed at each penitentiary establishment for permanent screening of the disease;
· Long-term family visits are launched in 4 prisons and the special infrastructure is being constructed in the rest of semi-open penitentiary establishments;
· Meeting by video-conferencing is launched in 2 prisons;
· Special infrastructure is being constructed for vocational education for inmates;
· The Council of Europe Development Bank approved the Government of Georgia's application for cheap loan, partially financing the project. The project envisages construction of a prison in Laituri, Ozurgeti region;
· Community service has already been implemented;
· Infrastructure has been improved in old prisons;
· Various rehabilitation projects were implemented, among others, program of preparation inmates for release;
· The service of the National Probation Agency has been strengthened.
