On the basis of legislative changes, new type of Limited Liberty/Halfway establishment will be introduced in the Probation System.

 

This reform is an important step forward in terms of  liberalization of the criminal justice policy that provides for implementation of European standard in Georgia.

 

Persons sentenced with deprivation of liberty, or upon dicision of the local Councils for Parole, will be placed in Open/Half way House-type establishment.

 

On the basis of individual assessment, inmates will have a possibility to leave establishments for weekends.

 

Inmates will be employed and receive salary in the various enterprises established by the National Probation Agency.

 

On non-working days inmates will benefit from short-term visits. They will be also enrolled in various rehabilitation as well as educational courses.
